Mary Elizabeth Bahl, 76, of Pasadena Court, Dubuque, formerly of Asbury, Iowa, passed away Saturday evening, June 10, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, with the comfort and assurance of her loving family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 4300 Asbury Road, Asbury. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Resurrection Cemetery, Asbury. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where there will be a parish wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1930, daughter of Henry and Cecelia (Lentz) Schuckert. She shared a happy childhood with her many siblings. She is survived by two sisters, Gertrude Gantenbein and Collette Feller. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Schuckert and Rita Van Zego; and five brothers, Joseph Schuckert, Cyril Schuckert, Henry Schuckert, Clarence Schuckert and Anthony Schuckert.

She graduated from the former Immaculate Conception Academy. She married James Bahl on Sept. 16, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; he preceded her in death in 1991. They made their home in Asbury and raised eight children.

She joins her son, James Jr. and her daughter-in-law, Julie, whose young lives were ended in 1975 and 1991.

Left to carry on her traditions are her children, Connie and Joe Wall, of Bettendorf, Lawrence and Angelica Bahl and Richard and Tanya Bahl, all of Aurora, Colo., Kris Bahl, of Dubuque, Dennis and Terry Bahl, of Hollywood, Md., and Don and Lisa Bahl, Michelle Bahl and Dan Perea, all of Littleton; and she was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and two more on the way.

She devoted 24 years to a professional and personal relationship with Dr. Paul Pechous, his associates and their families. She had volunteered her time and support to Resurrection Catholic Church and School, beginning in their fledgling years.

Mary lived life for her family and she enjoyed the simple pleasures like good company, good food and a good movie. She took the greatest pleasure in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was an imaginative, creative perfectionist in home improvement and gardening.

She is in a better place now and we shall cherish her memory always.

Memorials my be given to Holy Family Catholic Schools.
