Helen M. Bahl, 80, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 1906 Bennett St., passed away at 6:25 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at Ennoble Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Asbury, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on May 13, 1930, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Joseph C. and Magdalen J. (Jaeger) Krogman.

She married Gilbert Bahl on Jan. 28, 1947, in Dyersville; he preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1995. She later married Wilfred Bahl on Jan. 29, 1999; he preceded her in death on April 24, 2001.

Helen worked as a sales clerk in the ladies-wear department at Kmart for 25 years until her retirement. She also worked for the Dubuque Community School District for seven and a half years.

She was a faithful member of St. Joseph the Worker Church.

Helen enjoyed traveling with her husband, Gilbert, around the country. She also enjoyed crafts, especially quilting, ceramics and crocheting. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Duane) Koltes and Tina (Robert) DeMaio, both of Dubuque; a son, Tim (Michele) Bahl, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Robert (Heidi) Koltes, Janet Clark, Jake, Dana and Codi DeMaio and Jayme and Elizabeth Bahl; seven great-grandchildren, Kristen, Jesse, Jared, Dillon, Trent, Drake and Maxwell; five stepchildren, Jeffery (Janice) Bahl, Terrence G. Bahl, Wilfred (Vicky) Bahl Jr., Martin J. (Linda) Bahl and Marie (Charles) Miller; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; six sisters, Rose Greenwood, of Farley, Iowa, Mary Lou Sorensen and Bonnie Krogman, both of Dubuque, Verla Turnis, of Worthington, Carol Ann (Harold) Tibbetts, of Las Vegas, and Kathy (Dennis) Foxen, of Dyersville; four brothers, Richard (Debbie) Krogman, of Dubuque, Gary (Linda) Krogman and Vernon Krogman, both of Dyersville, and Jim (Bev) Krogman, of Worthington; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Roling; five brothers, Tom, David, LeRoy, Elwood and Joseph Krogman; two sisters-in-law, Eunice Krogman and Raynette Krogman; and four brothers-in-law, Harold Greenwood, George Sorensen, Vern Trumm and Richard Turnis.

A Helen M. Bahl Memorial Fund has been established.
