Obituary for Duane Tigges

Duane B. Tigges, 53, of 1331 Oak Park Place and formerly of Cedar Cross Road, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with the Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. where a parish scripture wake service will be recited at 3:00 p.m.

Duane was born on May 6, 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Martin and Dorothy (Merfeld) Tigges. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1979 and received his associate degree from NITI. He worked at Krieg Boys Ice for over 20 years. Duane enjoyed auctions and antique collecting, especially Potosi and Star Beer memorabilia. He also loved to fish, hunt and play euchre. Duane was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Surviving is his mother, Dorothy of Dubuque; his siblings, Randy (Ann) Tigges of Maquoketa, IA, Joan (Terry) Leibold of Dubuque, IA, Patty (Jim) Even of Cascade, IA and Steve (special friend Teri Trone) Tigges of Raymond, IA; nieces and nephews Gwenn, Matt, Brian, Keith, Jeff, Tina, Brenda, Eric, Alisha, Jessica and Trevor; great nieces and nephews, Caleb, Denver, Emmi, Brady, Madelynn, Allyson, Carter, Stephanie, Gavin, Olivia, Brodie, Sullie, Aidan, Malin and Tucker.

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin; his maternal grandparents, Nick and Marie Merfeld; his paternal grandparents Vincent and Agatha Tigges, niece Rachel Tigges and his special dog, Reggie.

A Duane B. Tigges memorial fund has been established.
