Patricia A. Steger 1932-2015

Patricia A. Steger, age 83, of Dubuque, IA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at home. To honor Patrica's life, funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, 231 Bluff Street with Msgr. Thomas A. Toale officiating. To celebrate Patricia's life, family and friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015, at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Entombment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery mausoleum. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia was born on August 12, 1932, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Aloysius P. and Henrietta M. (Hufnagel) Schmitt.

Patricia was united in marriage to Joseph P. Steger on October 6, 1951, at St. Joseph's Church in Rickardsville, Iowa. He preceded her in death, after 58 blessed years, on October 11, 2009.

Together they opened and operated the Arrowhead Marina at Mud Lake and were also very instrumental and active with the Izaac Walton League, Dubuque Chapter, with Patricia doing the bookkeeping for both for several years.

She enjoyed gardening, baking and reading and could easily be found with a smile on her face during any of these activities. Her love for those who held a special place in her heart, especially her family, was always on display in both her words and actions. A quiet and gentle woman has gone home and now leaves behind the family she adored so deeply to mourn her absence while celebrating her life.

and Waylon and Ellis O'Connell;

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Joseph Steger; and her brother, James (Jeanette) Schmitt.

A Patricia A. Steger memorial fund has been established.
