Mrs. George (Margaret) Coyle, 88, of Ecumenical Towers, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in Center Grove United Methodist Cemetery.

Margaret worked at the former F.W. Woolworth Co. for many years before her retirement.

She was born on March 2, 1909, in Dubuque, daughter of Anton and Theresa (Doty) Schmidt.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary, Daughters of the Spanish-American War and Grandview Avenue United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two grandsons, Tony (Joyce) Hemmer and Mark (Amy) Hemmer, both of Dubuque; and three granddaughters, Sandra Hemmer, of Dubuque, Rebecca Johnson, of Vermont, and Theresa (Andrew) Hemmer-Raeside, of New Hampshire.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Sonny" Coyle, on July 18, 1963.

A Margaret Coyle Memorial Fund has been established.
