Evelyn M. Brunskill, 92, of 1748 Churchill Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at home.

Services will be at noon today at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where friends may call after 10 a.m. today. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Center Grove Cemetery.

Miss Brunskill taught school for 46 years. She taught 10 years at schools in Center Grove, Van Horne and Anamosa; 36 years at Bryant Elementary School in Dubuque; and summers at the University of Dubuque.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1914, in Dubuque, daughter of George J. and Bessie (Osborn) Brunskill.

She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1931; received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Dubuque in 1944; and took graduate work at Iowa State University, Iowa City, and at Clarke College, Dubuque.

She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church; Pi Lambda Theta of Iowa State University; Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Lambda Chapter of Dubuque; National Education Association; Iowa State Education Association; Dubuque Retired Teachers Association; Iowa Retired Teachers Association; and Laubach Literacy International.

Evelyn wrote and published material on "Reading Readiness" and is listed in the 1971 edition of "Leaders of American and Secondary Education."

Surviving are a sister, Adele Pautvein, of Dubuque; two nieces; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew, Robert Pautvein.

Memorials may be sent to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 1199 Main St., Dubuque, Iowa 52001 and The Finley Hospital, 350 N. Grandview Ave., Dubuque, Iowa 52001.
