Kenneth H. Nicks 1916-1990

Committal services for Kenneth H. Nicks, 74, of Stonehill Care Center, 3585 Windsor Ave., formerly of 4131 Bluebird Drive, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery.

Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 6 of Dubuque.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. The Dennis Kitchen funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nicks worked in the smokehouse at the former Dubuque Packing Company for 32 years until his retirement in 1971.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1916, in Dubuque, son of Joseph and Pearl (McCarthy) Nicks. He died at 4:47 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 1990, at mercy Health Center St. Joseph’s Unit.

He married Mary T. Pottebaum on Sept. 14, 1942, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church; she survives.

He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 150A.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Jean A.) Boots and Diane Nicks, both of Dubuque; one grandchild; and one brother, Joseph Nicks of Dubuque.
