February 4th, 1959 - Sunday, February 16th, 2014

Dianne M. Ellerman, 55, of Dubuque died Sunday, February 16, 2014. Funeral services will be 7 pm Wednesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a visitation from 2 to 7 pm. Private family burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Dianne was born February 4, 1959 in Dubuque, daughter of Wayne and Nancy (Grant) Ellerman.

Born in 1959,Weighing 3.5 pounds, and severely handicapped, it would seem all odds were against Dianne. Through the fierce determination of Dr. Melgard, Grandma Clare, and especially her mom, Dianne defied all odds and grew to be a happy, productive, independent adult.

Dianne loved jigsaw puzzles, painting, sweets, the different seasons, snow globes, bright colors, flashing lights, soft fabric, and her twiddle rag.

She was blessed with two families. Her Ellerman family and her Concord group home family. Her Ellerman family included coming home for all holidays and Sundays, family events, and wandering around the yard at her leisure. She was a unique part of our family and will be greatly missed.

With her Concord family, she enjoyed day trips, boot scooting, camping at Albrecht Acres, yearly trips to St. Louis and dining out. She had a knack for sensing celebrations and was the first to decorate.

She is survived by her parents, Wayne and Nancy Ellerman; five siblings, Peggy (Mike) Fox of Dubuque, Connie (Scott Birkett) Johnson of Peosta, Dan (Lynn Kramer) Ellerman of Dubuque, Robert Ellerman of McGregor, and Carla Ellerman of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Katherine Grant and Joan Grant, and Carl and Clare Ellerman, and a brother, Kenny.

A Dianne Ellerman Memorial Fund has been established.
