James J. Roddy, 65, of Epworth, died at Mercy Hospital at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening following a six week illness. The body is at the Ashworth-Bennett Funeral home, from where the funeral will be held to St. Patrick's Church at Epworth Saturday morning. The funeral cortege will leave here at 8:30 o'clock and the mass is scheduled for 9:30. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Centralia.

Mr. Roddy was born in Vernon Township, Dubuque County, on Aug. 14, 1877, and has lived here all of his life. He was a farmer and member of St. Patrick's Church, Epworth, and the Holy Name and Rosary Society of that parish, on Feb. 3, 1903, he was married to Margarette Gaynor.

Surviving are his widow, and one son, Joseph Roddy, Peosta; four sisters, Mrs. Larry (Rose) Murphy and Mrs. Michael (Sadie) McDermott, Dubuque; Mrs. Josephine Tench, Epworth; and Miss Katie Roddy, Peosta; and one brother, John Roddy, Peosta; also several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Michael and Leo Roddy, and one sister, Mrs. Mamie Chapman.
