Dr. Earl E. Locher, 78, of 750 Harvard Street, died at 2:44 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Medical Center.

His first wife, the former Marie Raab, died in 1940.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Nativity, with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-9 Sunday at the Hoffmann Mortuary, where the rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Monday.

Dr. Locher was born in Monticello, Iowa. He was a member of Dubuque County, the Iowa State and the American Dental Societies; and the American Prosthodontic Society; he was a member of the Dubuque shooting 660 Club; the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; American league Post 6; The Dubuque Golf and Country Club; the Nativity Guild; and the Nativity Rosary Society. He was past exalted ruler of the Elks.

Dr. Locher was a dentist in Dubuque for the past 53 tears.

He was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Tschirgi, four daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Constance) Bussard of Lincoln, Ill., Mrs. Frederick (Nancy) Barth of Boulder, Colo., Mrs. Robert (Linda) Schumacher of Deerfield, Ill., and Mrs. Robert (Laura) Driscoll of Denver, Colo.; a son Dr. Charles James Locher of Milwaukee, Wisc.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Mary Locher and Miss Bertha Locher, both of Monticello, Ia., and two brothers, Leo of Columbus, Nebr., and Dr. Lawrence Locher of Farley

Memorial may be given to the heart fund.
