Peter Klein, the Retired Butcher,
Died at His Home Early This
Morning

Peter Klein, the retired butcher, and one of our pioneer residents died at 4:45 this morning his home near the Enameling works in north Dubuque. The deceased was 72 years of age, and had lived in Dubuque forty nine years, having arrived here in 1852.

The deceased was born in Luxemburg, Germany, and came to America fifty years ago, and having spent a year in Chicago came to Dubuque. For many years he was engaged in the butcher business, conducting a shop near the corner of Couler Avenue and Eagle Point Avenue. Fifteen years ago he retired and had, until recently, been in the enjoyment of good health.
He was a devout member of the Catholic Church, and was also a member of the Luxemburg Society.

In addition to his wife, four children survive him, three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Schuchert and the Misses Dora and Mary, all of this city, and one son, Antone, who resides at Fargo, North Dakota.

The funeral will take place Friday morning, when services will be held at the Holy Ghost Church, where the deceased worshipped during his lifetime.
