JOHN KELSALL, 77 YEARS OLD
SUCCUMBS FRIDAY – PIONEER
OF DUBUQUE COUNTY

Farley, Iowa Jan. 5 - Special: Death claimed one of the oldest residents of this section today when John Kelsall, 77 years old, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hiram Glew. Death was due to infirmities of old age and was not unexpected.

Mr. Kelsall was one of the early pioneers of this section coming to Dubuque County in 1867 from Manchester, England. Mr. Kelsall was born Feb. 11, 1840 in Manchester, England. In 1867 he was married to Miss Emma Byrnes at Manchester, England, immigrating to this country immediately after. Mrs. Kelsall died Sept. 2, 1895.

Four children, of whom three survive, were born to this union. The surviving children are; Mrs. Hiram Glew, Farley; Mrs. John Steele, Malvern, Kan.; and John of Chicago, William, another son, died in 1893.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the services will be held at the Methodist Church. Rev. M. L. Hill will officiate and burial will be made in the Farley cemetery.
