At 10 o’clock yesterday morning at the Cathedral were preformed with the solemnity of the Catholic ritual ceremonies were consigned to the clay all that was mortal of the late Miss Mary Hennessy, a sister of the Most Rev. Archbishop of Dubuque.

The deceased was a native of Ireland, but coming to this country at the tender age was induced to settle at Leadville, Col. During her stay the many qualities of mind and her together with the many noble traits of character of from which nature had endowed her, and with religion had educated, refined and embellished, demanded the respect and reverence of the community in which she so prominently circled and won for her the warm personal friends, surrounded by whom she peacefully yielded to her Maker her pure soul on Saturday morning, Dec. 22.

The remains reached here from Leadville yesterday at 6 o’clock a.m. and were conveyed from the depot to the Cathedral. The Cathedral on the inside provided a somber appearance. The Archbishop’s throne was veiled in deep mourning while entwined the colossal pillar and spawning the lofty arches of the sacred edifice were similar marks of sorrow.

During the hour the body laid instate the large concourse of friends and sympathizers who filled the precious aisles of the vast Cathedral was indeed a sensible though touching expression of condolence with the Archbishop on this sad occasion rendered, if possible more sad by his presence in making the as limina via Rome.

At 10 o’clock began the hour of the dead, which was followed by solemn High Mass de requiem.

Following were the officers of the office: Cantors: Rev. J. S. Bauman, Scared Heart, Rev. M. Barry, St. Frances Orphanage. Of the mass celebrants: Rev. J. J. Toomey, Chancellor Deacon, Rev. J. R. Fogarty, Sub Deacon, Rev. E. O’Reilly, Cathedral: Master of Ceremonies, Rev. E. Heelan, rector of Cathedral.
