John Googin, an old man about seventy years of age was found dead in his room in the Central House, which is conducted by Patrick Regan at 26 South Locust Street, about 10:00 last night. One of the members of the family happened to be passing by the room occupied by Googin, and upon looking in though the door, which was open, saw the old man lying on the bed in a rather peculiar position. Upon further investigation it was discovered that Googin was dead. The body was warm and he had apparently been dead but a short while. Coroner Bennett was notified and took the remains to his undertaking rooms, where an inquest will be held today.
It is supposed the old man died of heart failure. He ate his supper as usual and seemed to be in good health when he retired about 7 o’clock. Googin had been boarding at Regan’s for about three years. He formerly resided near the monastery, where he has a son living at present.
