Mrs. Sylvia Garver, 89, of 75 S. Algona Street, widow of William A. Garver died Thursday at her home after a long illness.The body was taken to the Haudenshield Funeral Home, 1258 Main Street, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery.
She was born July 3, 1859, near LaSalle, Ill. and came to Dubuque 60 years ago. She attended the Methodist Church and was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of The Civil War.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Mae) Goard, and Mrs. Harry (Josie) Hennings, both of Dubuque: one grandchild and one great-grandchild: a sister Mrs. Thomas Quinlan of Butte, Mont., and a brother John McGrath of Dubuque. She was preceded by her husband, on Jan. 28, 1937, a sister and four brothers.
