H. M. ANDRES CROSSES THE GREAT DIVIDE LAST EVENING

Receives Another Paralytic Stroke
Which Results in His Death
Prominent Cigar Manufacturer

While not unexpected, the death last evening at 6:20 o'clock of Henry M. Andres at his home, 2463 Couler Avenue, will occasion much sorrow among the many friends of the deceased and family. About four years ago he received a paralytic stroke which deprived him of speech and he has ever since been confined to his home. Last Saturday, at 7 a.m., he sustained another stroke and became unconscious in which state he remained until death relieved his suffering last evening.

Deceased was born in Schlessburg, Holstein, Germany March 23, 1833 and therefore was 62 years, 9 months and 7 days old at the time of his death. He came to this country in 1851 and to Dubuque in 1857, but removed to Missouri a few years later and then married in St. Charles, Mo. to Miss Sophia D. Beck in May, 1860. His wife died about three years ago and there now survives him eight children. Mrs. L. Schuster, T. E., Elvira, A. E. Woods, A. C., Bernice, Mabel and Manuella. He enlisted in the union army in St. Charles, Mo. In company B, United States Reserve corp Battalion of Missouri Volunteers. At the close of the war he returned to Dubuque and established himself in the cigar manufacturing business, which he conducted until failing health compelled his retirement in favor of his son T. E. He was the oldest cigar manufacturer in the city. He was a member of Hyde Clark Post G. A. R. Arrangements for the funeral will not be completed until his daughter, Mrs. Woods. Co; Henderson;s stenographer arrives from Washington. Deceased man was a highly esteemed by all and his death will be sincerely regretted.
