FARLEY, Iowa - William Joseph Oberbroeckling, 59, 24770 Leuchs Road, Farley, died at 2:13 a.m. Sunday, April 28, 1996, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 10 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a Farley Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m. Friends also may call from 2 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where there will be a wake service at 8 p.m.

Mr. Oberbroeckling was employed at Swiss Valley Ag in Farley, and also farmed in the Farley area. He was the county manager for the Dubuque County Archery Petroleum Co.

He was born on May 26, 1936, in Epworth, son of William and Catherine (Pottebaum) Oberbroeckling. He married Rita Mary Leuchs on May 28, 1957, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley; she died July 14, 1972. He married Carol A. Soppe on April 5, 1975, at St. John's Catholic Church, Placid.

He received his education in the Epworth area schools. He was a member of Farley Knights of Columbus Council 2001, the Hawkeye Vintage Farm Machinery Club, the Two Cylinder Club of Iowa and St. Joseph's Parish, Farley.

Surviving are his wife, Carol A. Oberbroeckling, of Farley; four sons, Daniel (Ann) Oberbroeckling, of Peosta, and Gerald, Kevin and Jeff Oberbroeckling, all of Farley; six daughters, Laura (Richard) Randecker, of East Dubuque, Ill., Madonna (Bill) Cheever, of Big Lake, Minn., Sharon (Steve) DeMuth, of Hazel Green, Wis., Sandra (Ed) Delaney, of Des Moines, and Kimberly and Kristy Oberbroeckling, both at home; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Ed Oberbroeckling, of Epworth; and four sisters, Verna Oberbroeckling, of Washington D.C., Sister Lucille Oberbroeckling OSF, of Dubuque, RoseMary Noonan, of Bernard, and Mrs. Leo (Virginia) Pfab, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Oberbroeckling.

A William J. Oberbroeckling Memorial Fund has been established.
