Hester M. McBride,96, died Thursday evening in her home after a sudden illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be an American Legion service at 7 and Scripture service at 7:30 p.m.

Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Father James J. of Farley and Harry V. of Anamosa; two daughters, Pearl (Mrs. Raymond) Scherrman and Rosalyn (Mrs. Leon) Kramer, both of Farley; a daughter-in-law, Grace (Mrs. Leo) McBride of rural Farley; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis on March 10, 1968; a son, Leo on Aug. 15, 1992; and a great-granddaughter.

She attended Immaculate Conception Academy and Visitation Academy in Dubuque. She was a schoolteacher in Dubuque County rural schools.

A memorial fund has been established.
