Mr. John M. "Jack" Watters, 76, of 13820 N. Cascade Road, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2000, at home.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Center Grove United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. The Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Watters farmed his entire life on North Cascade Road in Dubuque County.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1923, in Dubuque, son of Wilbur and Edna (Waller) Watters. He married Loretta M. Osterkamp on Feb. 18, 1949, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Dubuque.

He was a member of Center Grove United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau. He was the caretaker of Center Grove Cemetery and served on the cemetery board of directors.

Surviving are his wife, Loretta M. (Osterkamp) Watters; three sons, David (Carrie), Dennis (Judy) and Jim Watters (Jodi Regan), all of Dubuque; three daughters, Marlene (Ronnie) Valentine, of Dubuque, Judy (Mike) Colson, of Altoona, Iowa, and Shirley (John) Zurcher, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Watters; and a sister, Elizabeth Watters.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be given to the Center Grove United Methodist Church or the Center Grove Cemetery Association.
