FARLEY, Iowa - LeRoy C. "Roy" Jasper, 83, of 301 Second Ave. NW, Farley, died at 9:39 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at home, surrounded by his wife and family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain and the Rev. John Ptacek officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Farley American Legion Post 656. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m., an American Legion service at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1921, in Dyersville, son of Anton and Clara (Anstoetter) Jasper. He married Betty Hoeger on Nov. 8, 1948, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica.

He received his education in the Farley area schools.

He farmed in the rural Farley area all of his life. He enjoyed his life as a farmer. He also enjoyed visiting and playing cards with his family and many friends.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley. He also was a lifetime member of the Farley Knights of Columbus-Council 2001 and a member of the Dubourg Assembly Council 1573 and the Farley American Legion Post 656.

Roy's love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was always. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Jasper, of Farley; four children, Joe (Kathy) Jasper, of Farley, Joann (Frank) Helle, of Dyersville, Darlene Connolly, of Dubuque, and Donna (Steve) Kalb, of Peosta; a daughter-in-law, Darlene (Ken) Jasper-Besler, of Farley; 12 grandchildren, Julie (Doug) Heinrichs, Lynn (Scott) Meyers, Dan (Jodi) Helle, Angie (Brian) Kronlage, Marty (Angie) Kalb, Kevin Kalb, Kate (fianc, AJ Phab) Jasper, Emily, Brian and Molly Jasper, Tracie Jasper and Kelly (Joe) Rolwes; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters, Rita Schwendinger, Sister Mary Philip Jasper, PBVM, and Sister Mary Karen Jasper, PBVM, all of Dubuque, Lois (Joe) Hoeger, of Dyersville, and Mary Smith, of Key West; a brother, Jim (Lois) Jasper, of Peosta; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera Curtis, Kay Hoeger, Gladys Hoeger and Frank and Clara Mae Hoeger, all of Dyersville, and Lori Klosterman, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Chuck Jasper, on Dec. 29, 1984; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Meyers, on June 29, 1999; a brother, John; and three brothers-in-law, Al Hoeger, Bernie Hoeger and Tony Hoeger.

A LeRoy C. Jasper Memorial Fund has been established.
