CASCADE, Iowa - Services for Frank A. Hoefer, 85, of Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, formerly of 501 Second Ave., Farley, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m., a St. Joseph's Parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hoefer farmed in the rural Epworth and Farley areas, retiring in 1986.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1911, in Epworth, son of Chris J. and Mary (Schmitt) Hoefer. He died at 2:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 1996, at the care center.

He married Mae Lou (Goodale) Sweeney on Oct. 20, 1979, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley; she died Nov. 28, 1996.

He received his education in the rural Farley schools. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish and its altar and rosary society, the Farley Knights of Columbus Council 2001, and the Fourth Degree Dubourg Assembly 1573 of Dubuque.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Patricia (Dick) Meyer, of Dyersville; and three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Catherine) Pins, of Farley, Mrs. Bob (Mildred) Bell, of Farley, and Rosella Gotto, of Holy Cross.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marcella Muller; and two brothers, Cletus and Lawrence Hoefer.

A Frank A. Hoefer Memorial Fund has been established.
