FARLEY, Iowa - Alfred H. "Sonny" Goerdt Jr., 59, 701 First St. N.E., Farley, where he resided with his sister, Joyce, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mr. Goerdt was employed with the Illinois Central Railroad and then at the former Dubuque Packing Co., retiring on Sept. 13, 1996.

He was born on Dec. 12, 1937, in Farley, son of Alfred Sr. and Agnes (Trenkamp) Goerdt.

He received his education in the former St. Joseph's Schools, Farley. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 150A.

Surviving are his mother, Agnes Goerdt, of Dubuque; four sisters, Mrs. Don (Joyce) Koster, Mrs. Gene (Rose Mary) Breitbach, both of Farley, Mrs. Gene (Doris) Vorwald, of Holy Cross, and Mrs. Tom (Gertrude) Davis, of Dubuque; three brothers, George M. Davis, of Farley, Dick (Lois) Goerdt, of Guttenberg, and William Dale Goerdt, of Rockford, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Goerdt Sr.; two brothers, Herbert and Robert Goerdt; and a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Lorraine) Davis.

An Alfred H. Goerdt Jr. Memorial Fund has been established.
