FARLEY, Iowa - Donald J. Fox, 74, of Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, formerly of 203 E. First Ave., Farley, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Farley American Legion Post 656 and the New Vienna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7736. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m., a St. Joseph's Parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a Farley American Legion and New Vienna VFW service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Fox was employed as a buttermaker for creameries in Farley, Worthington, Ryan and New Vienna.

He was born on May 3, 1923, in Farley, son of Albert Henry and Catherine (Ronan) Fox.

He received his education in the Farley schools. He served as a Seaman 2nd Class in the Navy during World War II. Donald was a Boy Scout leader in Farley for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, a lifelong member of the New Vienna and past commander of the Farley American Legion Post 656 and a member of the New Vienna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7736.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Elizabeth) Freeze, and Mrs. Charles (Catherine) Wolf, both of Farley, and Mrs. Cletus (Christina) Kelley, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Gloria Fox, of Dubuque; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, James and William Fox; a sister, Mary "Lorelei" Callahan; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Fox and Gladys Fox; and a brother-in-law, Earl Fern.

A Donald J. Fox Memorial Fund has been established.
