FARLEY, Iowa - Fidelis M. Fortman, 90, of Farley, died at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at Oakcrest Nursing Home, Dyersville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of the America's rosary at 4:30 p.m., a wake service at 5 p.m. and the Farley American Legion will meet at 7 p.m.

She was born on Jan. 22, 1915, in Farley, daughter of John and Mary (Cooney) Simon.

She married Cletus Fortman on June 2, 1936, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley.

She was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School, Farley.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society, Farley, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the America's-Presentation Court 1460.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Gene (Barbara) Fortman, of Rochester, Minn., and Dr. Ken (Pat) Fortman, of Orange, Calif.; six grandchildren, Sheila (Scott) Craun, Julie (Bob) Romney, Suzanne Fortman, Steve (Lara) Fortman, Mark (Kris) Fortman and Emily Fortman; nine great-grandchildren, Casey, Chase, Erin, Cole, and Calvin Fortman, Jeffrey Craun, Katie, Christopher and David Romney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Cletus Fortman, on Aug. 9, 1969.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be given to Oakcrest Manor, Dyersville, and St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, in Fidelis's memory.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care and friendship given by the staff of Oakcrest Manor. The family also would like to thank all the neighbors, friends and relatives for all their support and prayers over the years.
