DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Bernice Carter, 88, of Mountain View, Calif., formerly of Dyersville, and Masonville, died after a long illness Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in Mountain View.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mountain View. Private burial of the cremated remains will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. The Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, Mountain View, is in charge of arrangements.

She was a longtime teacher at St. Francis Xavier School, Dyersville.

Surviving are her children, Bob Carter, of Florida, Connie Heckman, of Seattle, Wash., and Mary Carter, of Mountain View; grandchildren, Chris, Tony, Bill, Carla, Mark, Scott and Mike; and great-grandchildren, Amanda Jacob, Krista, Matthew, Micayla, Ryan, Megan and Steven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carter, in 1971.
