FARLEY, Iowa - Elizabeth A. "Betty" Boge, 89, of 205 Second Ave. N.W., Farley, died at 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m.; the Farley American Legion will meet at 7 p.m.; and the Farley American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 7:15 p.m.

Mrs. Boge worked in the Hot Lunch Program at the former St. Joseph's School, Farley.

She was born on July 12, 1913, in Worthington, daughter of Henry and Rose (Funke) Ricken. She married Cletus Boge on Sept. 20, 1938, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington.

She received her education in the Worthington area schools. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Betty was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life.

Surviving are four children, Donna (Kenneth) Biermann, Carol Boge and Jerry (Jane) Boge, all of Farley, and Norma Pfohl, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agatha Fangmann, of Dundee, and Teckla Fangmann, of Carroll; four sisters-in-law, Helen Georgen, of Farley, Lucille Recker, of Dyersville, Anita Wolf and Leone Ricken, both of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cletus Boge, on Jan. 8, 1980; five brothers; and five sisters.

An Elizabeth A. Boge Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Dubuque, and Dr. Brian Sullivan, his nurses and staff for all the wonderful care they gave Betty during her illness.
