FARLEY, Iowa - Mildred M. Betts, 89, of 306 Sixth Ave. NW, Farley, died at 6:18 a.m. Thursday, April 14, at her home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at

4 p.m. and a Farley American Legion Auxiliary service at 7 p.m.

She was born on April 17, 1921, in Bankston, daughter of Jacob and Louise (Thul) Koerperich. She was a graduate of St. Clement's school in Bankston.

She married Alfred M. Betts on Dec. 27, 1943, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clinton; he preceded her in death on April 20, 1985.

Mildred was a beautician in Clinton prior to moving to Farley. She recently volunteered as a teacher's aide at Drexler Elementary in Farley.

Mildred was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley and a member of the Farley American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two sons, Tom (Melinda) Betts, of Dubuque, and Bob (Claudette) Betts, of Farley; a son-in-law, Max (Karol) Elliott, of Epworth; and a daughter-in-law, Janet (fiance, Greg Cashman) Betts, of Bernard; six grandchildren, Randy and Mariah Betts, Angela (fiance, Marcus Brenner) Betts, Andrew Betts, Nicholas (Lynette) Elliott and Sara Elliott; and two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Payton.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sharon Kaye Elliott, on Jan. 22, 1975; two sisters, Lucille Berns and Veronica Manning; and three bothers, Edwin, Ray and Sylvester.
