Mrs. M. P. Hogan Claimed By Death
Mrs. Margaret Hogan, wife of Justice of the peace, M. P. Hogan, died at 12:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the family home, 481 Locust street. She had been in failing health for the past year and a 1/2.
Mrs. Hogans maiden name was Margaret C. Stafford and she was born at Harpers Ferry, Ia., September 28, 1866. Her parents were natives of Ireland who came to America and were among the pioneer settlers of Winneshiek county, Iowa. Her marriage to Justice Hogan occurred at St. Raphael's Cathedral on Sept 3, 1890. Father Ryan officiated.
Mrs. Hogan was a faithful member of Cathedral parish during her more than 40 years residence in Dubuque, of the Womens Catholic Order of Foresters, the Rosary, the Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart league. She was the mother of 10 children, four of whom, three sons and a daughter, preceded her in death. Her interests were centered in her home, her family and her religion.
Surviving are her husband and six sons, namely: William P. of Waterloo; Matthew L. of St. Paul; Edmund A. of Kansas City, Mo; Bonnie J., Michael P., Jr., and Clem J. of Dubuque, and 13 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the family home to the Cathedral at 9 o' clock Wednesday morning. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
