Lorraine J. Albang, 93, of Dyersville, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Donald Hertges. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a Scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. and a rosary will be said at 6 p.m.

Lorraine was born on Oct. 30, 1914, in Fillmore, daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Leibold) Osterhaus. She married Lawrence Albang in May 1940 in Dyersville. Lorraine was a seamstress at the Piekenbrock Clothes Factory in Dyersville and also did custodial work at St. Francis School.

She enjoyed playing cards, the organ, volunteering at Mercy Medical Center, and liked things that were short and to the point. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, traveling, visiting, socializing and listening to music. Lorraine was a good cook and loved baking for her family. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Basilica, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include her four children, Anthony (Sandi) Albang of Mankato, Minn., Joan Cueno and Richard Albang, both of Dyersville, and David (Phyl) Albang of Oxford Junction; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Walter Osterhaus of Independence and George Osterhaus of Urbana; and a dear friend, Aimee Hoefler of Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1973; a son, Charles, in 1989; sisters, Mathilda Dague, Bernice Schmitt, Francine Wessels and Mary Osterhaus; and brothers, Leo, Frank, John and Joe Osterhaus.
