Rose M. Beckmann, 95, of Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003. Services - 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Burial - St. Francis Cemetery. The Rev. Douglas Loecke will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, with a parish Scripture service at 5 p.m.

Rose was born Sept. 24, 1908, in Dyersville, the daughter of Frank and Catherine Schockemoehl Goerdt. Rose was educated in the rural school and worked at the Glover Shirt Factory in Dyersville. She married Bernard Beckman on March 30, 1959. She and her husband owned and operated the Park Motel in Salida, Colo., until his death on Aug. 20, 1962. Rose returned to Dyersville, where she worked at the Ben Franklin Store and Darlene's Cards and Gift Shop.

She is survived by two stepdaughters, Mary Ellen Frey of Waterloo and Margaret Westendorf of California; a stepdaughter-in-law, Claudia (Lawrence) Schueller of New Hampton; two nephews, James Steffen of Dubuque and Neil Goerdt of Dyersville; 12 nieces, Lois Pins, Julie, Mary and Donna Goerdt, Mercedes Maiers, Madonna Wulfekuhle, Imogene (Jerome) Bagge and Jean Mensen, all of Dyersville, Bernice (Pat) Dolan of Rockford, Ill., Melaine (Andy) Loesche and Aurelia Grawe, both of Manchester, and Margaret Doerr of Dubuque; and a special great-niece, Sue (Ed) Kramer of Dyersville.

Rose was preceded in death by a stepson, Bernard Beckman Jr.; four brothers, Edward, Albert, William and Emil Goerdt; and two sisters, Clara Grawe and Hilda Steffen.

The family wishes to thank relatives and friends for their loving and caring visits, and the staff at Oak Crest Manor, of whom Rose often spoke so highly. Thanks also to Hospice of Dubuque for their love and care.
