WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Marie L. Kluesner, 85, of Dyersville, formerly of Worthington, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, after a sudden illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Doug Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m., and the Farley American Legion Post will attend as a group at 7 p.m. Friends also may call until 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

She was born on Aug. 26, 1917, in North Buena Vista, daughter of Michael and Veronica (Brimeyer) Engling.

She married Sylvester N. Kluesner on Nov. 11, 1941, in North Buena Vista. Together they farmed in the Worthington area until they moved to Dyersville in 1982.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul Parish, and its altar and rosary society.

Surviving are her husband, Sylvester "Whitey"; five sons, Brother Marvin Kluesner, of Silver Springs, Md., Sylvester Jr., of Dubuque, David (Marilyn), of Farley, Eugene, of Washington, DC, and Leo (Julie), of Worthington; seven daughters, Rosemary (Arthur) Naber, of New Vienna, Dorothy (Eugene) Kramer, of Worthington, Lois (Robert) Tauke, of Cascade, Joyce (Charles) Urbain, of Davenport, Arlene (Dale) Fangmann and Bonnie (George) Heisler, both of Farley, and Mary Brenda (Richard) Ludwig, of Petersburg; three sisters, Viola Kaufmann and Agnes Steines, both of Dubuque, and Dorothy (Larry) Lucas, of Holy Cross; a brother, Elmer (Marilyn) Engling, of Dubuque; 31 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Florabelle Kluesner, of Farley; and a brother-in-law, Russ Gantenbein, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mark, in 1959; and a sister, Cecelia Gantenbein.
