WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Clement E. Kass, 72, of Galena Territories, Ill., formerly of Worthington, died suddenly Oct. 21, 2000, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m. There also will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8 p.m.

Mr. Kass worked at Beckman High School as the maintenance engineer for many years, until his retirement in 1988.

He was born on June 13, 1928, son of Nicholas and Mary Kass. He married Ruth Ament on April 3, 1951, in Worthington; she died on Oct. 13, 1990.

He later married Bernadine Deneen on March 18, 1995, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington; together they moved to Galena Territories.

He was an active member of Knights of Columbus Council 10212 of Elizabeth, and the 4th Degree Monsignor Conley Assembly of Galena.

Surviving are his wife, Bernadine, of Galena Territories; a daughter, Judy (Jim) Gobeli, of Argyle, Wis.; a son, Rick (Jean), of Greenwood, Ind.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Alberta (Paul) Uecker, of Pearl City, Ill., and Annie Schulting, of East Dubuque, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Carol Kass, of Minneapolis, and Adele Kass, of Dubuque; five stepchildren, Charles (Deborah) Deneen, of Elizabeth, Ill., Daniel (Lyn) Deneen, Ed (Kay) McCann, Loretta Barborek, and Michael (Lorraine) Deneen, all of Chicago.

He also was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters; and a stepson, Casey Deneen.
