WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Andrew F. Hostert, 88, of Worthington, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m., and an Altar and Rosary Society rosary at 4:30 p.m.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1917, in Dubuque, son of Felix and Josephine (Schemmel) Hostert.

He married Irene Burlage on Aug. 21, 1945, in Dyersville. They farmed east of Worthington.

He had a strong sense of and deep appreciation for his family.

Andy was a Hall of Fame member of the Dubuque County Cattlemen's Association who loved farming, raising cattle and going to sales.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy (Dan) Dolan, of Waterloo, and Mary Jo (Joe) Zaksas, of Sarasota, Fla.; a son, Dave Hostert, of Worthington; four grandchildren, Lora (Shane) Sonberg, Steve Dolan, Kristy Dolan and Joe Dolan; a great-granddaughter, Sierra Sonberg; a brother-in-law, Don (Mickey) Burlage; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Burlage.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; a sister, Victoria Hostert; three brothers-in-law, Elmer, Lester and Lawrence (Frances) Burlage; and four sisters-in-law, Ida (Laverne) Engler, Lucille (Emil) White and Florence and Mildred Burlage.
