WORTHINGTON, Iowa -- Irma P. Hess, 88, of Worthington, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Robert Gross officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1922, in Worthington, daughter of Lawrence and Emma (Krogman) Funke. She married Raymond C. Hess on June 28, 1938, in Worthington; he preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1991.

Irma worked for the Dyersville Sales Barn for 50 years, retiring in 2000.

She was a member of the St. Paul Altar & Rosary Society.

Irma enjoyed crocheting, watching golf, gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Marjean (Ron) Marbach and Deanne (Gary) Lammers, both of Dyersville, and Patricia "Pat" (Richard) White, of Hopkinton; 11 grandchildren, Mary Jo (Chris) Piper, Lois (Mike) Faley, Lisa (Bill) Northup, Jeff Lammers, Lynn (Gary) Kluesner, Ken (Allison) White, Paula White, Kathy (Brian) Grete, Lee White, Rachel (Corey) Schoenfelder and Patrick White; 14 great-grandchildren, Mike, Brittany and Megan Faley, Lauren and Jacob Northup, Sarah, Justin, Abigail and Garret Kluesner, Elizabeth and Adam White, Andrew and Joshua Grete and JJ Schoenfelder; sisters, Lucille Kelchen, of Cascade, and Norma (Lawrence) Link, of Dyersville; brothers, Eldon (Kaye) Funke, of Monticello, and Marvin (Rose Lee) Funke, of Dyersville; and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Funke, of Worthington, and Irene Funke, of Farley.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two children, David and Lois Ann; a grandson, Bob Lammers; three brothers, Gilbert, LeVern and Donald Funke; and two sisters, Deloras Sabers and Grace Link.
