WORTHINGTON, Iowa -- Marcella C. Fortman, 82, of Ellen Kennedy Living Center, formerly of Worthington, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, following a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Phil Kruse officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where St. Paul Rosary Society and Legion Auxiliary will recite the rosary at 4 p.m., a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m. and the Worthington Fire Department will gather at 6 p.m.

She was born on May 10, 1925, in Dyersville, daughter of Nicholas and Cecelia M. (Keuter) Elenz. She married Sylvester Fortman on July 9, 1953, in Dyersville; he preceded her in death in 2004. They farmed in the Worthington area until their retirement.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Paul Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society.

Surviving are her son, Dave Fortman, of Worthington; three daughters, Janice (Lenny) Racine, of Spring Valley, Ill., Joyce (Delwyn) Curtis and Judy (Gerald) Nachtman, both of Manchester; 10 grandchildren, Lenny, Kristin and Jason Racine, William, Rachel and Melissa Curtis, and Robert, Laura, Mindy and Sarah Nachtman; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Fortmann, of Ryan, and Norma Fortmann, of Worthington; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Cyril, Eugene and Arthur Elenz; and two sisters, Marie Steffensmeier and Margaret Mescher.
