HOPKINTON, Iowa - Cory Bonert, 17-year-old son of Steven and Jane (Steger) Bonert, of rural Hopkinton, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Delaware County.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 2 p.m.

He was born on Dec. 12, 1983, in Manchester, son of Steven and Jane (Steger) Bonert.

He was a senior at Maquoketa Valley High School and was a member of the football team. He loved cycling, four-wheeling and was an avid hunter.

Surviving are his parents; four brothers, Mike Bonert, Chad Bonert (and his special friend, Rachel Orr), Greg Bonert and Danny Bonert, all of Hopkinton; Cory's special friend, Anna Moorman; maternal grandparents, Walter and Betty Steger, of Delhi; and paternal grandmother, Rita Bonert, of Hopkinton.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo Bonert; two uncles, Carl Bonert and Jerome Bonert; and a cousin, Mark Allamand.
