DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Florian B. Recker, 91, of Dyersville, died of natural causes Monday, May 6, 2002, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

He was born on April 28, 1911, in Monticello, son of Henry and Rose (Willenborg) Recker. He married Helen Hirtz on Aug. 11, 1942, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade. They farmed in the Sand Springs area until their retirement in 1975, when they moved to Dyersville.

Florian was an inventor whose love of farming spawned many farm related inventions. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are three sons, Richard (Mary Ann) Recker, of Earlville, Robert (Kay) Recker, of Waterloo, and Herbert (Mary) Recker, of Dyersville; a daughter, Rosann (David) Buchheit, of Dyersville; a daughter-in-law, Joan Recker, of Dyersville; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ernie (Irene), of Monticello, Irvin, of Monticello, and Jerry (Pearl), of Dyersville; and a sister, Marie Mormann, of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1980; two sons, Thomas, in 1970, and Donald Recker, in 2002; and two brothers, Raymond and Gilbert Recker.
