WORTHINGTON, Iowa -- Relda M. Philipp, 84, formerly of Worthington, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, following a long illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Donald Hertges officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade.

She was born on May 18, 1924, in Greeley, daughter of George and Alice (Rowell) Beohm. She was a graduate of the Greeley School.

She married Gilbert Philipp on Jan. 5, 1942, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Greeley; he preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1975.

She was a member of St. Paul's Parish in Worthington.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed doing her yard work.

Relda also enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially their visits to the nursing home. Mother always referred to her death "as just a change of address."

Surviving are five children, Barb (Dick) Menster and Marlene (Fred) Kremer, both of Cascade, Shirley Hanson, of Dubuque, Charles Philipp, of Worthington, and Karen (Pete) Berns, of Elkader; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjorie (Vince) Erhart, of Dubuque, and Leona (Don) McGrik, of Rockford, Ill.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Merle Beohm; a sister, Gerty Krause; and a grandchild, Karl Kremer.
