FARLEY, Iowa - Cyril J. "Cy" Oberfoell, 70, of 503 Third Ave. NW, Farley, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Worthington, where there will be a flag presentation by the Farley American Legion Post 656. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m.

Mr. Oberfoell worked at Modernfold in Dyersville since 1964.

He was born on Dec. 15, 1933, in Bankston, son of Clarence and Marie (Greenwood) Oberfoell. He received his education in the Bankston, rural Dyersville area schools.

He was a veteran, having served in the Army from 1956 to 1958 in the 62nd Tank Battalion, stationed in Germany.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and the Midwestern Industrial Council United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 2704.

Surviving are a brother, Joseph (Darlene) Oberfoell, of Farley; a sister, Mary Ann (Dale) Bishop, of Cedar Rapids; and nieces and nephews, Anna Mae and Rita Mae Oberfoell, both of Farley, Marie Oberfoell and Clarence Oberfoell, both of Dubuque, Carol Oberfoell and Janet Oberfoell, both of Monticello, and Jim Bishop, of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Louis Oberfoell, in 2001.

Memorials may be given to the Campaign for Healthy Hearts at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque Cardiac Services, 250 Mercy Drive, Dubuque, Iowa 52001.

The family of Cyril would like to thank the Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque Cardiac, Intensive Care Unit and Skilled Nursing units. A special thanks to the many co-workers of Cy at Modernfold for all their kindness and care.
