DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Dorothy L. Heid, 91, of Dyersville, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Heritage Manor, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Phil Kruse officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Kramer Funeral Home. Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born on June 5, 1918, in Cascade, Iowa, daughter of Theodore and Mary Ann (Mensen) Althoff. She married Raymond Heid on Feb. 21, 1938, in Cascade. Together they farmed in the Worthington area until Ray preceded her in death in 1979. Dorothy moved to Dyersville in 1981.

Dorothy had a wonderful appreciation of music and shared that with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her son, Herbert (Elaine), of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Jeff Heid, of Muscatine, and Laurie (Jeremy) Bushman, of Dubuque; and three great-grandchildren, Joe, Adam and Ella Bushman.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda in 2001; five brothers, Andy, Frank, Raymond, Albert and Joseph Althoff; and two sisters, Frances Tucker and Alma Naderman.
