Deceased Name: Oscar E. Bruggeman

ASBURY, Iowa - Oscar E. Bruggeman, 83, of 5325 Saratoga Road, Asbury, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Resurrection Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m.

He was born on April 17, 1923, in Delaware County, Iowa, son of Louis and Henerita (Bockenstedt) Bruggeman. He married Donna M. Dean on Oct. 30, 1945, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque. They enjoyed 61 years of a strong and loving marriage.

Oscar was a timber buyer involved in both the foreign and domestic timber markets.

He owned and operated Dubuque Hardwoods and a sawmill in Smiths Mill, Minn. He also constructed a trailer court in Mankato, Minn.

He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and the Elks Club.

He will be remembered by his wife and family as a loving and giving man.

Surviving are his wife, Donna, of Asbury; two sons, Edward Bruggeman and William "Michael" (Donna) Bruggeman, both of Dubuque; three daughters, Sharon Hauber, of Asbury, Susan (Mark) Bergman, of Mankato, and Tina Marie (Tom) Bromley, of Lake Worth, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Bruggeman and Loretta "Boots" Furlong, both of Dubuque; two brothers-in-law, Bill Dean, of Cincinnati, and Ray (Phyllis) Dean, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis, in infancy; two brothers, John and Arnold; two sisters, Audrey Randall and Marion McDermott; and many in-laws.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque and the Asbury Emergency Medical Services.
