William J. Hartmann

Services for William J. "Bill" Hartmann Sr., 63, of 2662 Pinard St., will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Post 6, of Dubuque. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mr. Hartmann was a longtime carpenter in the Dubuque area and was a member of the Carpenters Local 678.

He was born on June 17, 1932, in Dubuque, son of Leo and Emma (Puff) Hartmann. He died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 1995, at home.

He married Donna M. Beau on Dec. 26, 1953, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He served with the Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 508. He also was an honored member of the Dubuque Boat Club and a former member of the Dubuque County Search and Rescue Squad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and making crafts for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed cooking for his friends at the Dubuque Boat Club.

Surviving are his wife, Donna M. (Beau) Hartmann; a son, William J. (Janet) Hartmann Jr. of East Dubuque, Ill; 4 daughters, Tina M (Clyde) Mihalakis of Dubuque, Kim L. (Randy) Kunkel of Hazel Green, Wis., and Sandi K. (Mike) Decker and Laurie A. Glenn, both of Dubuque; 7 granddaughters and 7 grandsons, 2 sisters, Marie Heim of Dubuque and Jeannette (Jack) Cannon of Bernard, Iowa; and a brother, Carl (Kay) Hartmann of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Smith, and 4 brothers, Thomas, Donald, Arthur and Leo Hartmann.
