Gregory L. Nauman, 90 of Dubuque, formerly of 2860 Central Ave passed away on Sunday March 10, 2013 with his family by his side.

Services will be at 10:00 on Thursday March 14th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd with Rev. Dwayne Thoman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, with full military detail by American Legion Post #6. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday March 13 th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory.

He was born on July 4, 1922 in Sherrill, Iowa the son of Herman J. and Mary Susan (Jungblut) Nauman. He was 33,152 days old. He is a US Navy Veteran, serving from 1944 to 1946 where he was a cook.

He married Helen Kanavas on May 2, 1948. She preceded him in death on January 31, 1977. He worked as a plant manager for Hilldale Dairy and Swiss Valley Farms for 35 years retiring in July of 1984. He was a “jack of all trades” and in his own mind a “master of them all”. Best euchre player in the country!!!!!

He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing and reached his lifetime achievement of getting a hole-in-one at Lacoma Golf Course. He also like to bowl and was part of the Dirty Dozen Bowling League for Hilldale Dairy. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sons, George T. Nauman, and Gregory H. (Victoria) Nauman, both of Dubuque. His grandchildren, Erika (Kars) Douma, Nicole (Aaron) Mooney, George T. (Abby) Nauman II, Christine (Peter) Eck, Elena (Brent) Fox, and Heather Seippel, Great grandchildren, Lauren & Addison Eck, Hayden and Madison Fox, Alyssa Seippel, Owen, Mena, Clara, and Laney Nauman, step great grandchildren, Mason and Carter Eck. His siblings, Norbert Nauman, John (Ann) Nauman, Lavonne Hoffman, Germaine Freiburger, Teresa Kroll, Agnes (Robert) O’Neill, Herman (Marge) Nauman, Adel Peters, Marguerite (Ken) Ziegenfuss, and a sister-in-law, Ilene Nauman

He was preceded in death by his parents. His siblings, Mildred Wirzbach, Henry Nauman, sister-in-law, Leora Nauman, brothers-in-law Robert Hoffman, Loras Freiburger, Gene Kroll, George Peters and Bob Wirzbach, stepbrother Eldon Nauman, stepsisters, Sister Eleanor Nauman, Lucille Beau, Marian Bales and Clara Spoden.
