Peter Koos Services Held At LaMotte
LaMotte, Feb. 17-
Peter Koos, 90, retired LaMotte farmer, died Sunday evening at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held from the Didesch funeral home in Dubuque at 9:00 a.m. Thursday to Holy Rosary Catholic church, LaMotte. The requiem mass was offered by the Rev. A. J. Schmitz, pastor, at 10:00 a.m. Burial was made in the Holy Rosary cemetery.Mr. Koos was born January 1, 1865 at Bisdorf, Luxembourg. He came to the LaMotte community at the age of eighteen. On December 29, 1885, he was married at St. Theresa's church to Maggie Bank. She preceded him in death. He farmed most of his life in the LaMotte vicinity. He was a member of Holy Rosary church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and was a past Grand Knight and honorary life member of the Bellevue Knights of Columbus council.
Surviving are six sons, Nicholas, Peter, Louis, William, Frank and C. H., all of LaMotte; three daughters, Josephine Kilburg, Florence Sprank, both of LaMotte and Virgie Koos, at home; one brother, Henry of LaMotte; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
