Services for Sylvester J. "Syl" Beversdorf, 68, of 2006 Kniest St., will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the De Wachter-Haudenshield Funeral Home, 2170 Central Ave. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Beversdorf, formerly of Bellevue, Iowa, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday at his Dubuque residence. He was born September 4, 1913 in Dubuque and had been employed at the Dubuque Casket Co. for many years prior to his retirement.

Surviving are his wife, the former Jennie Lightfoot; a daughter, Donna (Byron) Bolsinger of Dubuque; 3 sons, Harry, Paul and Tom, all of Dubuque, eight grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Joan Beversdorf of West Palm Beach, Fla; 2 sisters, Joan (Henry) Calloway of Fayetteville, Ark. and Orsie (John) Kopnak of West Palm Beach, and 2 brothers, Charles of Dubuque and Francis of Phoenix, Ariz.
