Mrs. Alfred (Gen) Wedewer
The unexpected death of Mrs. Alfred (Gen) Wedewer, wife of a Dyersville building contractor, occurred at her home, 1020 4th Ave. S.E. early Saturday afternoon, April 1, 1972. She was 55 years old. Mrs. Wedewer was born at Worthington, September 14, 1917 the daughter of the late Dan and Mayme Haas Hogan. She married Alfred Wedewer at Farley, on October 24, 1940. Surviving are her widower, Alfred (Duke) Wedewer; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Margaret Ellen) Nieman of Hackensack, New Jersy and Mary Jill of Iowa City; Three sons, Daniel Wedewer of Moline, Illinois; Paul Wedewer and William at home. There are three grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, William Hogan of rural Farley. She was preceded in death by her parents. The McBride Funereal Home at Dyersville had charge of the funeral arrangements. The Scripture Wake services wee held at 8 p.m. in McBride-Funeral Home Monday evening. The funeral mass was offered at 9:30 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Basilica by the Rev. Alois May on Tuesday, April 4th. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery at Dyersville. The casket bearers were John E. Stoneman, Howard Fettketner, Glen Kelly, Paul Bruggemann, Willard Kramer and Jerome Kramer.
