Dr. Leo James Hogan
Dr. Leo Hogan, 98, of Charleston, South Carolina, Retired veteran, who practiced at Charleston more than 45 years died Sunday at a local hospital at Charleston. A native of Farley, Iowa, Dr. Hogan was born January 6th, 1866, a son of Daniel Hogan and Mrs. Elizabeth Hoover Hogan. Dr. Hogan was a graduate of McKellps College of Veterinary Medicine in Chicago, Ill. He taught veterinary medicine at South Western Veterinary College in Dallas, Texas, which in now the Veterinary Medicine Dept. of the University of Texas and served in World War I as captain in the U.S. Medical Corps. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. Dr. Hogan was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the American Doctors of Veterinary Medicine Association. He was a member of local Veterinary Association, and honorary life member of the S.C. Doctors of Veterinary Medicine Association. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Charles J. Molony Officiation. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery at Charleston. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Adah Stannard Hogan, a daughter Mrs. Clifton L. Sykes of Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Daly of Farley and Mrs. James Arnold of Hopkinton, Iowa; two grandsons, a granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
