Mr. John Hogan died at Farley

ANSWERED SUMMONS A LITTLE AFTER SIX O'CLOCK SUNDAY MORNING

Farley, Ia, Sept 9 (1925) After many months of patient suffering M. John Hogan passed quietly away at his home here Sunday morning soon after six o'clock. Being a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church he was fortified in his last hours by the rites of that religion. Mr. Hogan was born August 25, 1849, in County Limerick and came to America with his parents when only a small child. The family settled in Dubuque County and were among the earliest settlers in this vicinity. Mr. Hogan has lived in Farley for the past ten years. He was united in marriage to Miss Julia O'Conor who passed away thirty-eight years ago. Several years later he married Catherine McCann at New Melleray. She also preceded him in death in 1908. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Alice Needham of Palo Alta., Cal., Mrs. E.J. Cota, Elk Point, S.D., Mrs J.E. Todd, Evansville, Ind., Miss Agnes Hogan, R.N. of Rochester, Minn,. William of LaCrosse, Wis., Vincent J. of Dubuque, Louis, Charles and Miss Bernice at home; one son, John, and a daughter, Julia, preceded him in death. One sister, Mrs. Ellen Keefe and five grandchildren also survive him. Mr. Hogan was a member of Farley Council 2001, Knights of Columbus. Funeral services were held from the home of the deceased to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church at nine o'clock. Requiem Mass was read by the pastor, Rev. P.J. Coffey, before a large concourse of relatives and friends. Casketbearers were Messrs. Edward Breen, James Elliott, John Roman, J.P. Sanner, Dan Duggan and Herman Hanfeldt of Epworth. The Knights of Columbus acted as an escort and attended in a body at the services. Interment was made in St. Joseph's Cemetary. The following were relatives from out of town who were here in attendance: Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Short, Mr. and Mr.s Mark Hogan, Mr. and Mrs. John Hogan, Mrs. Anna Hogan and Mr. Mike Hogan of Winthrop, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Duffy, Masonville; Mr. and Mrs John Tench, Frances and John Tench, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Graham of Peosta; Mr. and Mrs Ed McDermott of Epworth; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. McCann, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Meyer, Mr. and Mrs C. Palmer, Miss Ida McCann, Mrs Mary Brennan, Mr. Leo Burds, Missed Mayme and Jean O'Brien, Mr. N.J. Arensdorff and son Arnold. Mr. Frank Thompson, Dr. and Mrs. W.J. Connell, all of Dubuque; Mr. and Mr.s Hugh Lahey and son, Robert, Fairbanks; O'Connor of Waterloo; Elizabethn, Mike Ronan, Independence; Mr. John O'Connor, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Fank Daly and daughter Elizabeth, Mr. and Mrs. James Arnold of Earlville and John McCann of Bagley, Wis.
