Helen Marie Polsean, 92, of 3131 Hillcrest Road, formerly of 3515 Crescent Ridge, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, with her family at her side.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Center Grove United Methodist Church, 3140 Brunskill Road, with the Rev. Jennifer Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1915, daughter of Frank M. and Anna M. (Jacobson) Dykeman, and baptized on Oct. 10, 1915, at St. Luke's Methodist Church. She married Alfred L. Polsean on Sept. 12, 1936, at St. Luke's; he preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1995.

Helen was a longtime active member of Center Grove United Methodist Church and served several years as an election official at polling places in Dubuque.

She was a sweet and gentle soul who delighted in her family and took joy in crocheting afghans, tablecloths, baby outfits, etc., for family members.

Helen and Al traveled considerably after his retirement. She loved to dance, sing, and play cards and bingo.

Surviving are three daughters, Marjorie "Marge" Felderman, of rural Bellevue, Iowa, Marilyn Ewing, of Marietta, Ga., and Mary (Gary) Moffatt, of Fallon, Nev.; a son, Richard "Rick" Polsean, of Powder Springs, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Anne (Jon) Dunn, of Brown Deer, Wis.; a son-in-law, Wesley Hammerand, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Dykeman, of Boise, Idaho; a brother-in-law, Ray (Naomi) Polsean, of Freeport, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Marlene Hammerand; sons-in-law, Ron Schultz, Ralph R. Felderman and Richard Ewing; two sisters, one in infancy and Evelyn (Kenneth) Kennedy; a brother, Edgar Dykeman; a sister-in-law, Ruth (Stanley) Block; a brother-in-law, Tilden (Bernice) Polsean; and a grandson, in infancy.
