Mrs. Clarence "Tuie" (Mildred M.) Besler, 82, of 5092 Sherrill Road, Sherrill, died at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 1999 at the home of her daughter, Donna Breitbach, 538 Balltown Road, where she was residing.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque, with burial in St. John's Cemetery, Placid. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque, where there will be a parish wake service at 5:30 p.m.

Mrs. Besler taught at the Rock School House, near Epworth, before she was married. She also worked at the Battery Factory until it closed.

She was born on Feb. 12, 1917, in Placid, daughter of James and Isabelle (Hill) Horsfield. She married Clarence "Tuie" Besler on Aug. 24, 1937, at St. John's church, Placid; he died in 1981.

She was a full-time wife and homemaker. She was a member of Holy Ghost Parish and a member of the Women of the Moose. She was also an honorary member of the Northend Gun Club. She loved to travel and had been to Ireland, Australia, Germany and Hawaii. She especially enjoyed taking bus trips.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna L. (V.J.) Breitbach, of Balltown; three sons, Duane C. (Marian) Besler, of Milwaukee and Darrel P. (Verna) Besler, and James D. (Donna) Besler, both of Dubuque; two foster sons, Bruce (Sue) Nagelmaker, and Brice Nagelmaker, both of Dubuque; and 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Deanna Besler, in infancy; and two sisters, Bridget Horsfield, in infancy, and Mrs. Paul (Virginia "Tiny") Flynn.
